You must be prepared for some of the most insane and extreme road trips around the world that will send chills down your spine.

Manali-Leh, India

You will pass through high-mountain passes, arid plains, and glacial melts that cascade over high cliffs. The stunning views of the snow-capped mountains are breathtaking. This road is known as the Manali-Leh Highway. It runs from Manali in the Himachal Pradesh Region to Leh in Ladakh.

It runs 490 km (304 mi) and is the highest motorableroad in the world. It cuts through the Indian Himalayas at an elevation of 3,000m (9,850ft) with a maximum height of 5,420m (17.782ft).

Every rider’s dream is to tour the Manali-Leh Highway. Some may consider it a holy pilgrimage. The trip usually takes 2 to 3 days, depending on whether you travel by bus, 4X4 or motorbike. You can also spend the first night in Keylong.

The tour can be done in one day if you are determined. It is important to note that altitude sickness can be very severe for the body. If you go too fast up or down the roof, it increases your chances of getting it.

The Manali-Leh Highway tour is not recommended for beginners. Due to the unpredictable Himalayan weather and traffic, you will need prior experience riding a motorcycle in adventure.

The highway is closed for four months during summer due to the amount of snow it receives.
